Oh Flyers, why must you continue you to break thy hearts of Philadelphians? We did no wrong. We support you guys every game. What have we done to deserve such agony? Thursday night I had the pleasure of being in the house for that god awful excuse of a hockey game. From my observations I must say this team is in serious trouble. The glaring lack of talent outside of Giroux & Voracek is alarming. An outsider can easily see the lack of natural talent and ability by just watching the Flyers continue to limp into every single shootout. It's sad. There is no confidence in the shootout and we as fans know that if Claude doesn't score in them we are doomed. Chief continues to throw Vinny out there in the shootouts for some reason. I mean hey we lost 10 in a row and he's been a shooter in 9 of the 10, why change it up? What gets my blood boiling is we have a 20 year old stud named Scott Laughton who shows us his skill on a game in game out basis yet doesn't even sniff a chance to participate in a shootout. But I digress. | There's a game on tonight if you are interested. Flyers embark on a daunting 8 game road trip starting at 7pm in Toronto. We will get to see our beloved 2007 second overall pick James Van Riemsdyk skate around and display a skill level the Flyers desperately need. But hey we needed defense at the time and Luke Schenn was the obviously answer, good stuff. The Flyers will be without number one goalie Steve Mason for at least the next two games after leaving the ice at practice yesterday with an apparent back injury. Yay. It can easily be said that without Mason this season the Flyers would be challenging Buffalo for worst in the league. Go Emery! Regardless, we are all diehard Flyers fans and will continue to tune into the games like we always do because we love hockey and this team. Let's start this road trip with a W boys. Let's go Flyers. |

Flyers are winners of 3 in a row and on the verge of closing out a month of October that has been the hardest ranked strength of schedule in the league. Thanks in part to major contributions from budding superstar Jake Voracek and unsung hero backup goaltender Ray Emery. Emery now has gotten the Flyers points in all games which he has started going 4-0-1 on the young season while the 25 year old Voracek is tied for the league lead in assists with 11 and 3rd in the league in points with 13. Tampa Bay is a team that has given the Flyers fits in recent years with there lethal combination of speed and skill, the Flyers will look to end there misfortunes tonight.
Game notes: Rookie defenseman Shayne Gostibhere is a healthy scratch tonight, taking his place in the lineup will be fellow rookie and Phantoms call up Brandon Manning, who has had a few cups of coffee with the Flyers over the last couple seasons. |
